How to get wrinkles out of inflatable movie screen
Whether used for classroom presentations and business meetings, or for entertainment purposes in a home theater, projector screens are essential in a variety of occasions. They come in many different styles, including pull-down screens, mounted screens, and portable screens. Most projector screens consist of a white matte fabric for flexibility and optimal visual performance.
However, through ordinary use and wear, the screen can become wrinkled. After using the projector screen for a long time, its fabric or screen material could become saggy. Folds, ripples, waves or wrinkles will form on it. When you sit down and watch a movie on the big screen, the last thing you want is a distorted image on part of the screen. Removing the wrinkle can restore the projector screen to proper working condition and salvage an otherwise pleasant viewing experience.
Luckily, there are a few ways you can get rid of wrinkles, but you need to make sure not to damage the screen in the process. With care and patience, you can remove wrinkles from your projector screen with following steps and the movie screen will be back in good working order once again.
- Sunlight
If your screen is wrinkled, you can open it up and place it in direct sunlight. To start, first taut your screen fabric with the frame. And make sure you have properly taut the screen. The heat of the sun is mild enough to soften the screen without causing any potential damage. Next, you should gently wipe the back of the screen to remove wrinkles. Make sure you don't rub the front of the screen, as it's a delicate surface that could be easily damaged. This should remove the wrinkles and you can put the screen back inside and reset it.
- Iron
Another way to heat the screen is to use an iron. You need to be very careful as the screen is delicate and requires very little heat. Start by placing a towel over a table or an ironing board. Next, you can lay the screen flat with the back of the screen facing up. You should start with minimal heat. And if the temperature is not enough, increase the heat slightly and press lightly on the screen fabric. You will notice that the wrinkles are leaving the screen fabric.
You can let the screen cool before removing it from the table and putting it back in place. You may need to repeat this process a few times, depending on the severity of the wrinkles. If the heat you use doesn't apply to the screen fabric, it will swell the screen fabric forever. So use the iron carefully.
- Apply weight to the bottom
Another way is to hang heavy objects from the bottom of the screen. This will stretch the screen and remove wrinkles. This method may take longer than others, but it's an easy way to hang weights and get off the screen until the wrinkles disappear.
Find the support from which you can hang your screen. At the same time, be cautious about the weight you are applying at the bottom as it should not tear your projector screen fabric.
With the helpful tips above, you can have a wrinkle-free screen in no time.
